What to Expect at Your First Chiropractic Visit

Your first chiropractic visit is an evaluation, not a commitment. You will spend more time than a typical follow-up: a conversation about your history and what you are feeling, a physical and movement-based exam, and a clear explanation of what Dr. Gregory Martin finds and what he recommends. Treatment may begin the same day or on a follow-up, and there is no pressure to continue.

In New Jersey you do not need a referral to see a chiropractor. Chiropractors in the state are licensed as independent practitioners, so you can book directly. The one thing worth checking is your insurance plan: some plans have their own rules about referrals or authorization, so a quick call to your insurer can settle that before your visit.

Plan on paperwork covering your health history and medications, then a conversation: when the discomfort started, where it is, what makes it better or worse and what you have already tried. It helps to bring a list of current medications, any imaging reports or records from other providers, and your insurance card. Dr. Greg then assesses your posture, how your spine and joints move, and your range of motion, checking for any red flags that might point to another provider.
