What to Expect at a Follow-Up Chiropractic Visit
2026-10-26 4 min read · Reviewed by Dr. Gregory Martin
A follow-up chiropractic visit is shorter and more focused than your first one. Instead of a full history and exam, it checks how you have responded since the last visit, re-assesses your movement, and adjusts the plan from there.
The visit starts with a conversation. Dr. Greg will ask how you slept, what feels better, what still bothers you, and whether anything new came up. Your answers guide everything that happens next, so being honest about what you have and have not noticed is the most useful thing you can do.
Then comes a quick re-assessment. He may recheck your range of motion or how a joint moves compared with last time. This is how progress gets measured in the real world, by what your body is doing differently rather than just how things felt on paper.
The adjustment itself is usually similar to what you experienced before, though it can change based on how you responded. Some visits are more about soft tissue work or a gentler technique than a full adjustment. The goal is to do what helps you move better, not to repeat the same routine automatically.
Follow-up schedules are not one-size-fits-all, and they are not forever. Some people come for a few visits and feel ready to manage on their own. Others benefit from care spread over more time, especially if an older injury or a demanding job keeps aggravating the area. Your plan should be explained clearly, and it should change when your situation changes.
If something is not helping, or if a different provider would be a better fit for your situation, the honest answer is part of the care. A good follow-up visit ends with you understanding what is happening and what to do next, without pressure to keep coming back.
